Use the FAQ below to answer some of the basic questions you might have. If you still have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Q1: So, what is this?
Hours Boost is a service which allows you to increase the hours played of your Steamâ„¢ games. In detail, you enter your account's information to our system and we then automatically - without your credentials ever pass through human eyes - log in to your Steam account in order to start idling the games you have selected.
In addition, while you idle your Steamâ„¢ games you will earn Steam cards when available. Once you have received all of your card drops, you become eligible for a booster pack containing 3 additional cards. Booster packs are granted randomly to eligible users as more badges are crafted by members of the community. Make sure you log in to Steam each week to maintain eligibility.
Q2: How does it work?
- Steamâ„¢ Profile URL ID: You can find your Steam Profile URL ID in the URL of your Steam profile. It would be, for example, something like 'steamcommunity.com/id/gabelogannewell'. The ID in this case is 'gabelogannewell' or, it could be like 'steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960287930'.
- Steamâ„¢ Username: The username you use to log in to your Steamâ„¢ account.
- Password: The password you use to log in to your Steamâ„¢ account.
Steamâ„¢ Guard: Check this box if you use Steamâ„¢ Guard to protect your Steamâ„¢ account. A verification code will be sent to you later.
Notice: Once you enter your Steamâ„¢ account credentials - username and password - our system automatically encrypts them with a random key and stores them in our secure database. Even with direct access to our database, nobody can see or decrypt your username and password.
2. Buy a subscription.
While you are logged in to the Hours Boost website, navigate to the homepage and select the subscription you want to buy. Click the green "BUY NOW" button, review the information displayed and checkout by clicking the Pay with PayPal button and following the instructions on the pop-up. Once you complete the process, you will be redirected depending on the outcome. Please allow 5 to 10 minutes for us to process your payment. You will be notified once your subscription is available.
To split your subscription, navigate to the subscriptions page, click the blue button on the right of the table and select the amount of subscriptions you want to split to. You will be able to use them immediately.
Warning: If you have bought a subscription that can be split into several others, make sure you do it on this step because once you link it to a Steam account in your profile, you will not be able to split it later!
3. Add your subscription to your Steam account.
Once your subscription is available, you can add it to your Steamâ„¢ account. Go to the Steamâ„¢ accounts page and click the link "Add Subscription" in the table. Select the subscription and click the green button "Add Subscription". Your subscription is now linked to this Steamâ„¢ account. It can only be removed once it has expired, so be careful when you choose which subscription you want to which Steamâ„¢ account.
4. Select the games you want to boost.
You have added a subscription and it is now time to select the games you want to boost on this Steamâ„¢ account. In the Steamâ„¢ accounts page click the link "Select Games" in the table. Select the games you want and click the green button "Add Games to Boost". Your games were selected and are ready to start idling. You can select different games only when the subscription linked to this Steamâ„¢ account has expired, so be careful when you choose which games you want to boost on your Steamâ„¢ account.
5. Add the Steamâ„¢ Guard code you received. (Optional)
If you have Steamâ„¢ Guard enabled and you have checked the box in step 1 when you added your Steamâ„¢ account, you will receive a Steamâ„¢ Guard auth code (5 characters) in the email you use on your Steamâ„¢ account. Please allow 5 to 10 minutes for the authorization code to arrive. Click the blue button with the shield icon in the Steamâ„¢ accounts table, add the code in the text field and click the button "Add Steamâ„¢ Guard Code". You have successfully authorized our servers to use your Steamâ„¢ account to idle your games.
6. Sit back, relax and let us boost your games hour by hour...
Your Steamâ„¢ account is now idling the games you have selected. Please allow 5 to 10 minutes before you see any changes in your Steamâ„¢ account.
Q3: Is this legal? Will I get banned for this?
This service is completely legitimate. We use the Steamâ„¢ API to log in your account and start a game session logging hours to it. This process can be used for more than one game at the same time.
Q4: How about safety? How are my account's credentials protected while my account is idling?
Once you enter your Steamâ„¢ account credentials - username and password - our system automatically encrypts them with a random key and stores them in our secure database. Even with direct access to our database, nobody can see or decrypt your username and password.
Q5: Steamâ„¢ Guard?
You DO NOT have to take Steamâ„¢ Guard OFF, neither we ever get authed on any personal computer. Steamâ„¢ Guard remains ON and you can also put a temporary password for the period that we are idling and change it later so everything is 500% safe for you. The services gets done on our Debian Linux dedicated server hosted on Moldova (MD), not on any personal computer / LAN. After we setup and activate your service, Steamâ„¢ notifies you on your next login with the above message:
You can freely accept it by choosing "YES, THIS WAS ME" and be sure that you authorised the one and only official hours boost service done by HoursBoost.com
Q6: How many hours can I have on my account? Is there any limit?
No, there is no limit on how much you can let your games open on your computer while it's doing nothing, idling... and therefore, there is no limit on how many hours you can gather on your account by idling it with the use of our services. Considering that you don't interrupt the process by logging in your Steamâ„¢ account, our service will run 24/7 until you cancel or your subscription expires.
Q7: Can I play while the service is running?
You can still play on your account normally while using our services. When you stop playing you need to login on our site again, go to your "Steam Accounts" list and click the restart button in order to restart the service on your account. You can also remain Online on your Steamâ„¢ in order to chat with friends, and you can always use the account as well in order to play whenever you like. Our bot keeps idling for example Counter Strike, Counter Strike Global Offensive and other games (acting like if you were playing them all at the same time) and you are either OFFLINE at all, or you can AFK. If you decide to open a game and play, a message appears like the one below:
You can press "OK" and play the game you like (CSGO for example), and when you stop playing CSGO you need to login on our site again, go to your "Steam Accounts" list and click the restart button in order to restart the service on your account.
Q8: How many games can I boost? Is there a limit?
Although you can select unlimited games for idling (with subscriptions that allow it), there is a universal hard limit on the Steamâ„¢ servers which allows you to actively idle 30 games at a time.On the other hand, if you want to idle more than 30 games, you are free (for all subscriptions) to change your idling games list and select a different set of games for idling at any time.
Q9: Can I use the Steam Mobile Authenticator?
Unfortunately, our system is not compatible with the Steam Mobile Authenticator and you will not be able to authenticate your account in order to idle the games on our service. Please make sure that you are using Steam Guard via Email in order for your account to authenticate properly and idle on our service.
Q9.1: Why not?
A9.1: We do not support the Steam Mobile Authenticator at the moment for security reasons (we are currently testing the safety of adding support of this feature) and because while your account is idling, for any reason, the Steam servers may disconnect our bot from your account and in order to continue idling, you will need to enter a new Steam Mobile Authenticator code. This will result in you losing hours from your subscription and create an unnecessary inconvenience. The Steam Guard via Email system is completely secure and you should use it without worry.
Q10: Can I idle games from a Steam account with Family Sharing?
No. If you add a "guest" Steam account in our service, you will be able to idle only the games that this account owns in the Steam library.
In order to idle games that have been shared via Family Sharing with your account, you will need to add the "leader" Steam account and select the games that it owns for idling.
Q11: Do you accept PayPal eChecks?
No. We do not accept eChecks via PayPal. If you insist on paying via eChecks, you should contact us first and we will complete the process manually once your eCheck has been cleared from your bank account.
Q12: Which games can I idle?
If you have specified your Steam Community profile ID and your account is set to public for the time, you can select any game from your Steam library.
If you have not entered your Steam Community profile ID, we will provide you with a default list of popular games to select. You can always contact us to add a game that is not on the list but you own.
